Food Photography in Zhuhai, China: LED as Kicker, No Surprise
During a recent food photography session in Zhuhai, China, I decided to keep things simple. Instead of setting up another flash for the 2nd kicker light, I used a small LED I had on hand. This wasn’t a surprise decision — I knew from experience it would work just fine for this setup.
The LED gave just the right touch of separation and highlight to the Longan Meat project. While I typically prefer the consistency and control of flash, I’m also fully aware of how to use LED lighting effectively when needed. Knowing how to shape light, regardless of the tool, is what makes the difference between average and great food photography.
