Why Accurate Lighting Matters: Godox AD300 Pro Flash Tube Changes and What It Means for Photo Buyers

Recently, I noticed that the new batch of Godox AD300 Pro flash units has switched to a different flash tube supplier. According to Godox’s own notes, this change impacts the color temperature accuracy — the new tubes produce light that’s a few hundred Kelvin cooler than the previous version.

For photographers, this might sound minor, but it’s important enough that Godox released a firmware update (v1.3 on 2025/03/14) to fix this issue. Strangely, no influencers or KOLs on YouTube seem to mention it. This makes me wonder: were all those early AD300 Pro reviews simply paid promotions at launch? Or did no one bother to test the color accuracy properly?

Why Photo Buyers Should Care

You might think this is just technical talk between photographers, but as a photo buyer, marketing communication professional, or corporate client, these details matter to you too. Why? Because inaccurate lighting leads to inconsistent skin tones, color shifts in clothing, and uneven image quality across your brand visuals.

Imagine spending time and resources on a corporate portrait or headshot session, only to receive photos where your CEO’s skin tone varies from image to image, or your brand colors look “off.” It affects trust, credibility, and brand consistency.
