Why Commercial Photography Isn’t a One-Price-Fits-All Service

For marketing and communications professionals, it’s important to understand that commercial photography, corporate photography and commercial photograph licensing is not one-size-fits-all. Every project comes with different usage rights, distribution channels, and creative needs—which is why we can’t simply put together a flat price sheet for every assignment. Instead, we ask for your budget range at the beginning. This helps us see what’s realistically possible, and what level of production value we can bring to your shoot.

Unfortunately, these days it’s common to receive unrealistic budgets—numbers that don’t even cover the costs of proper production. For perspective, in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and parts of China, a wedding studio photo session (half a day, with an album for the couple) can easily cost HKD 15,000–30,000+. Yet businesses sometimes expect full-scale commercial photography—images that directly help them make money—to be produced for just a fraction of that cost.

The truth is, professional business imagery is an investment, not a quick expense. Strong visuals elevate brand perception, build trust, and communicate professionalism to clients and stakeholders. When budgets are set too low, the results simply can’t match the quality and impact your brand deserves.
