Recently, during a boudoir portrait session in Macau, I had a client who seemed visibly disappointed. Not because of the photos—but because of how slowly I was working. She expected fast clicks, fast results, and lots of “candid” moments like she’d seen in short videos online. Instead, I was adjusting her pose, fine-tuning the lighting, checking the background, and carefully waiting for the right moment to press the shutter.
I could tell she was frustrated… until I showed her the images directly from my tablet. Her mood shifted immediately. “Oh! I didn’t expect it to look like this,” she said. The quality, the expression, the lighting—it all came together. She smiled. She felt seen. That’s when she truly understood the value of a slower, more intentional approach.
