Corporate Photography in Hong Kong
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Hong Kong stood as one of Asia’s most vibrant and truly international cities — a dynamic global hub where East truly met West. For this portrait of the CEO of SWIFT Hong Kong, we revisited that golden era, capturing the confidence, sophistication, and cosmopolitan spirit that once defined the city. Against the iconic skyline that symbolized boundless opportunity, the image reflects a time when Hong Kong attracted the world’s brightest talent, ideas flowed freely, and the city pulsed with international energy. A quiet reminder of the Hong Kong many still remember and cherish.
In the heart of Hong Kong, we were called to a small office for a quick corporate portrait session. One of the lawyers, pressed for time yet eager for a professional headshot, stepped in for the shoot. With efficient setup and expert lighting, we captured a confident, genuine portrait in no time. The moment he saw the result, his smile said it all — he loved it. Even in tight spaces and tighter schedules, great portraits are absolutely possible.
Turning a seemingly ordinary landmark into a creative and visually striking backdrop was the challenge—and the reward came when the boss saw the final image. What was once considered boring transformed into a bold statement through thoughtful composition, lighting, and perspective. The boss absolutely loved the result, proving that with the right vision, even the most unassuming locations can shine.
For this corporate headshot assignment, the client shipped their official backdrop to ensure visual consistency with their global team’s portraits. The goal was to maintain a uniform look across all headshots worldwide, aligning perfectly with their brand standards. With precise lighting, matching camera angles, and attention to every detail, the final results blended seamlessly with existing portraits taken in other countries—creating a cohesive and professional image library for the company’s international use.
One of the most satisfying corporate headshot sessions I’ve photographed in Hong Kong took place in a beautifully lit office with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city skyline. The client valued authenticity and wanted portraits that felt natural yet confident, capturing their leadership team's true character. With thoughtful lighting, clean composition, and relaxed direction, the final images reflected both professionalism and personality. What pleased me most was the client's genuine excitement upon seeing how the photos brought out their team’s identity in such a compelling and polished way.
After several years of initial inquiry and staying in touch, the client finally decided it was the right time to move forward with their corporate portrait session. It was rewarding to see that our consistent communication and professional presence left a lasting impression. When we finally met for the shoot, the session felt like a natural continuation rather than a first-time meeting. The client appreciated the patience, attention to detail, and how seamlessly everything came together—proof that good things are worth the wait.
A small law firm based in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, recently reached out with a simple but important request — they needed a professional headshot for one of their lawyers and wanted to make sure the shoot could be done smoothly in their compact office. They asked, “Can we make it work?” Absolutely. With our mobile lighting setup and efficient workflow, we turned their limited space into a mini studio. The result? A confident, polished portrait delivered without fuss. Sometimes all it takes is a yes — and a “let’s rock and roll” attitude.
Sometimes, the right image is worth investing in personally. A CTO from a leading tech firm in Hong Kong wasn’t satisfied with the standard portraits arranged by his marcom team—he felt they lacked character and didn’t represent him well. So, before an important keynote speech and scheduled PR features, he decided to take matters into his own hands. Using his personal budget, he commissioned me to shoot a tailored portrait session at their Hong Kong office. With the right lighting, direction, and attention to detail, we created a set of professional yet authentic images that aligned with his public presence—and that he was proud to stand behind.
The client, a lawyer, specifically requested an old-school, university-to-corporate style portrait—something rooted in tradition, formality, and a sense of established professionalism. With that in mind, I approached the shoot by carefully shaping the lighting, keeping it clean and controlled, and directing the posing to reflect a more classic, composed posture. The intention was to stay true to that timeless aesthetic rather than introducing anything overly modern or stylized.
To be honest, the result worked exceptionally well because he naturally fits this kind of visual language. His features, expression, and overall presence align perfectly with the structured, traditional look, giving the portrait a sense of authority, credibility, and quiet confidence. Instead of feeling dated, the old-school approach actually enhances his character, resulting in an image that feels both classic and highly appropriate for his profession.
